This policy explains how RideFaer (operating the Faer marketplace) handles personal data across its rides, experiences and rentals verticals. RideFaer is the data controller for the personal data described here. For privacy matters you can reach us at the contact address at the end of this policy. Cookies and similar tracking technologies are covered by a separate Cookie Policy, not this document.
We collect: (a) account and contact data — name, email, phone; (b) booking data — pickup/drop-off or meeting locations, dates, party size, and traveller notes across rides, experiences and rentals; (c) driver location data — GPS tracks captured while a driver is online and on an active ride, used for live tracking; (d) operator and driver verification (KYC) data — licence, permit, insurance, VOG and identity documents needed to onboard and pay providers; (e) payment metadata — transaction amounts, status, payout records and the payment-method tokens held by our processor (we do not store full card numbers); and (f) technical and usage data such as device and log information.
We use personal data to: create and manage accounts; match travellers with drivers and operators and form bookings; provide live trip tracking; process payments, commissions and payouts; verify provider eligibility and prevent fraud; send booking confirmations and service messages; provide support; meet legal, tax and safety obligations; and maintain and improve the platform.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of a contract (to deliver bookings and payments you request); legitimate interests (to secure the platform, prevent fraud, and improve the service); legal obligation (tax, accounting, licensing and lawful requests); and consent where specifically required. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
We share booking details with the driver or operator fulfilling your booking (for example a traveller name and meeting point), and provider payout details as needed to pay them. We do not sell personal data. We use vetted sub-processors that handle data on our behalf: Stripe (payments and payouts), Supabase (database, authentication and hosting of application data), Twilio (SMS and messaging), Resend (transactional email), Mapbox (maps and geocoding), and Vercel (application hosting and analytics). We may also disclose data where required by law.
Faer operates in the Caribbean, but several of our sub-processors store or process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) to protect it.
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Booking and transaction records are retained for the period required for tax, accounting and dispute purposes; driver GPS tracks are retained for a short period tied to the trip and then deleted; KYC verification records are kept for the duration of the provider relationship and any mandatory retention period afterwards. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised.
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction or objection to certain processing, and a portable copy of data you provided. You may also lodge a complaint with the relevant data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@ridefaer.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by law.
