The island is small, operators are experienced with cruise and resort groups, and the main activities — jeep tours, catamaran snorkeling, sailing — all have private versions available. Here is what works, what does not, and what to expect on pricing.

Jeep Tours for Groups

Private jeep tours in Aruba run in convoys when groups exceed one vehicle's capacity. Most jeeps seat four to six passengers. A group of twenty books four to five vehicles that travel together to the same stops.

The route covers Arikok National Park, the natural bridges on the northeast coast, and the natural pool (Conchi) — a sheltered ocean pool inside volcanic rock that is only accessible by 4x4. This route is the main reason to do a jeep tour in Aruba and it works for any group size.

What private gets you over shared convoy tours: departure time control, pace at each stop, and no strangers. Shared convoy tours run on fixed schedules with groups assembled from multiple hotels.

Private jeep convoy pricing runs $400 to $600 for a full convoy of four to five vehicles. Divide by headcount and compare against shared rates (typically $65 to $90 per person).

Catamaran Snorkel Tours

The Antilla wreck on the northwest coast is the standout snorkel site in Aruba — the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean. Most catamaran snorkel tours stop here. Private catamaran charters for groups are available from most Aruba marina operators.

Standard catamaran capacity: 20 to 40 passengers. A private half-day charter runs $800 to $1,200 depending on vessel size and duration. For a group of twenty, that is $40 to $60 per person versus $70 to $85 on a shared tour.

Private charters allow route flexibility. You can spend more time at the Antilla if the group wants it, add a second snorkel stop, or adjust timing for the return.

Sailing — America's Cup Boats

The 1988 America's Cup race boats are based in Sint Maarten, not Aruba, but Aruba has sailing excursions that run group charters. Sunset sails and half-day sails accommodate groups and can be booked privately.

What Does Not Scale Well for Groups

Hiking in Arikok National Park works for groups but requires everyone to be at the same fitness level. The Conchi trail is three to four hours round trip in full sun. Groups with mixed fitness or older members should stick to the jeep tour version of the same destination.

Submarine tours run on fixed schedules with fixed capacity. Private charter of the tourist submarine is not available. Groups need to book multiple departures.

Night excursions — evening catamaran cruises in particular — book up fast when multiple cruise ships are in port. Reserve early.

Booking Lead Time

Aruba is one of the busier Caribbean islands. On days with multiple cruise ships in port, private charter capacity sells out. For group tours, book at minimum two weeks ahead. For cruise-day tours in peak season (December through April), four weeks is safer.
