The Blue Room is a sea cave that lights up from within. It sits at the waterline off Santa Cruz beach, on Curaçao's west coast, and its only entrance is below the surface. Light enters through the flooded mouth. The water absorbs the warm end of the spectrum on the way in, so only blue reaches the chamber, where it reflects off the pale floor and fills the cave with a deep glow. Locals call it the Blauwe Kamer. There is no gate and no ticket. You get in the water, slip under a low shelf of rock, and surface inside the light.
How to get to the Blue Room
Every way in goes through the water. The Blue Room has no path, no stairs, and no door. The cave opens below the surface. You reach it by holding a breath and going under a low lip of rock.
Most people arrive by boat. West-coast runs come out to the cove, hold off the mouth, and put you in with a crew who know the passage and read the swell. Timing is sorted, gear is handed over, and someone watches the sea.

The cave is shallow and open enough to explore without a full penetration dive. Small reef fish gather in the mouth where the light comes through.
The glow is strongest at midday, when the sun sits high enough to drive light through the submerged opening. The water strips out everything but the blue, and the pale floor throws it back up through the chamber. Come early or late and the cave is dimmer. Come on a rough day and it may not open at all.
